Default Where is WML Critique? - 04-19-2004 , 07:07 PM

I did several searches on newsgroup titles and found nothing of value - I
put up a WML page and have no idea if it works/stinks. I have about 8 - 10
hits a month from phone browsers and would like them to get something for
their effort.
TIA

Looks pretty good for the small display. Horizontal scroll starts when
the width of the W3C validation icons, plus the obfuscated e-mail
address, is reached. You could take them out of the table and use
left-floated divs so they would stack when squished. (I'm not a fan of
the W3C icons, and you don't want your e-mail address to be off the
right edge of the screen, so you could just delete the icons...)

As window size is reduced, when you reach the point where the photo is
just starting to slide under the menu, the "Live from" text gets left
all alone to the right of the menu, with lots of blank vertical space
between it and the photo, followed by the rest of the text "Effingham,
Illinois..." below the photo. I'd judge that to show up on a PDA,
perhaps, but not a phone. By the time the width is reduced to phone
size, it looks fine again.

BTW, I don't have a small device. I just resized the browser window
downward using Netscape 7.1 and watched what happened. You can do the
same with IE 6.

Having said all that, I'm not sure I'm seeing the right page. WML (I
had to look it up) is Wireless Markup Language, based on XML. But the
<doctype> at http://www.wejuggle2.com/index.html is HTML4 strict.
Perhaps the server only delivers the WML page to a WML-enabled device.

If that's the case, someone else will have to help.

I am happy to give you a WML critique, as Opera 7.x supports WML.

Firstly, your XML is not well-formed. Change this:

<? xml version="1.0" ?>

to this:

<?xml version="1.0"?>

You only seem to have three cards -- much less information than is on your
regular site.

I would suggest at least adding in your e-mail address (some phones are
able to send e-mail).

You don't seem to include a full international dialing code in your
"wtai:" link. You should.

For the benefit of others:

That will help allot.

I am just trying to get them some info for their effort and get my ducks in
a row. I will make those changes and down the road, add more content.
Thanks Much!
