I'm already familiar with your site because of the slrn article, but I'd
never read the "rough justice" page. Funny stuff!

There's something about the font you're using that looks rough in Opera
9.24 on my machine (Mandriva 2008). Other sites' fonts look fine using
that browser, and the font on your site looks ok in FF here. So I've no
idea why it looks the way it does. I've just upgraded this machine to
2008, and also upgraded Opera to 9.24, so there's no telling. If it's
only looking rough on my machine then who cares? I can read it. I'll do
more testing if you want but I don't feel like looking into it atm.

Oh, and your site looks fine to me. I've always liked the spider.

I enjoyed the 'rough justice' page and intend to make a few additions
shortly. As for slrn it is an exciting time at the moment with a
release version due out before Christmas at which time I will remove
the svn material and put the release in. Might even get a version 1.0
one day after 13 years of on and off development :-)

Hmmm... I see what you mean. I have never been sure about font
selection with this site, particularly as the audience will largely be
from linux which I was keen to cater for. Font choice is:

font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Trebuchet MS", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;

which may be a little bizarre I guess. I shall investigate.

Good markup and simple but clean layout. I've read your site before, the
rough justice section in particular seems familiar, though perhaps that's
because they're quotes from newsgroups that I have been reading forever

Thanks for taking the time. I have run the site through
alt.html.critique a long time ago but I felt that I had made enough
changes in various areas to justify a few more people running a
blowtorch over it again :-)

I deliberately stuck with 'simple but clean' as I appear to have very
skills with images and more sophisticated layouts, so after
floundering around a little I decided to stick to what I know best,
provide a decent depth on information on the site and update
regularly.

Thanks again,

Andrew

Installation of Windows fonts seems to have corrected the problem that
Opera was having with your and other sites.

.... and created some other problems. Oh, well, such is the world of
FOSS. ;-)

And I also just stumbled across this typo:

amazing script for their own putposes."

Oops! I have corrected this :-)
