Default Site Critique Please - 05-25-2007 , 11:10 PM

Hi,

Would appreciate a critique of

http://www.cnswallpaper.com/

The basic site is near completion, I've just got several hundred
wallpapers to add.

Since it's a new site I went with the XHTML Strict doc type and
everything validates (unless I've messed something up - again!).

I'm using basic .asp (no aspDOTnet stuff) with a dns-less
connection to a small Access db. I'll maintain the site through
an administration section that's in a secure dir. Anyone wanting
to critique this section contact me off-group please.

Thanks in advance - for the bad as well as any good.

Chet

The site succeeds in killing my Netscape with a error.

It works ok in Firefox, though.

I won't go farther since I'm not really interested in wallpapers and any
review by me would probably not be in a fair light. But I thought you
might want to know about the Netscape thing.

Unless you are planning on loads of advertisements or expanding to a
major catalog site, I see no reason for three columns. The two outside
columns are so large there is not much room in the center for your primary
content.
The main nav is brief enough to run horizontally. "Recommend Us" would
be better placed somewhere else.

The site looks OK and does validate, but your main title looks weak

The site looks OK and does validate, but your main title looks weak because
you are just using the default text. Consider creating a custom header
background using Photoshop or some other graphics program to give the header
more spice.
