Hi David,

Just a few quick thoughts: your opening page should perhaps provide a
bit more information about the actual purpose of the site. As it is
the admittedly spectacular Flash animation reveals little of this.

You may get a bit of a caning from the group as well for validation
errors in your CSS and HTML, and for your choice of a transitional
doctype, a frames one at that. Your layout would be easy to duplicate
with a CSS non-frames one and a Strict Doctype would not take too
much more work.

But I can see a lot of very original thought in the actual material
which is always good to see! This jars a little with the Google ads
perhaps :-)

All the very best for your project!!

Andrew

Scrollbars. I need scrollbars. Your content exceeds the length of my
browser window, but there are no vertical scrollbars to let me access it
or to even know that there is more to see.

But it turns out it's mostly just ugly Google ads polluting your lovely
site.

What's the thing in the upper right of the Home page? It seems to change
on every reload, but it doesn't, um, *do* anything for me. What is it?

The Contact page is somehow unsatisfying. Hardly worth the menu point.

The gray BG of the Artwork and Videos pages don't match the rest of the
site. The gray looks cheap. These pages also reveal that the nave menu
is not quite wide enough to match the image below it on the left.

The fonts used on your Thoughts page need review. The second essay is
unreadable (FBI forensics experts could likely make it out, but they're
motivated; I'm not).

It would indeed be a bit better if there were more distinct clues about
the purpose of the site. I gather (eventually) that you are a graphical
artist, but the site is terribly inaccessible.

And now I see from the source that you have included keywords like
"drugs,cocaine,heroin,ecstasy,marijuana,chemicals, drug trip,fun," etc.,
which (1) makes me lose interest (the drugs part, not the keywords part)
and (2) confuses me because I don't see the connection between drugs and
the site. Unless you made the site while *on* drugs, or something.

Ah, a suffering artist, victim of a dark, tasteless system. Forced into
a life of drugs and despair, angst-ridden rants, apocalyptic art.
That's what I get from your site.
Since there nothing explicitly indicates the intent of your site, my
imagination ran free. What is "357" (besides a weapons caliber)?
Your home page is mostly blank for me since I have all Flash blocked.
Fix the validation errors.

ANDREW

"perhaps provide a bit more information about the actual purpose of
the site."

good idea, i will incorporate this as soon as possible.

"Your layout would be easy to duplicate with a CSS non-frames one and
Â*a Strict Doctype would not take too

I don't have a strong CSS understanding, otherwise, i probably would
have done it.

"This jars a little with the Google ads perhaps :-) "
Do you know of a better alternative?

JOHN

"Scrollbars. I need scrollbars. Your content exceeds the length of my

there must be something seriously wrong with your browser

"What's the thing in the upper right of the Home page?"
Im not sure, but i thought it was wild. Humans love variety do they
not?

"The Contact page is somehow unsatisfying. Hardly worth the menu

I plan on implementing a contact form, but thanks

"The gray BG of the Artwork and Videos pages don't match the rest of
the

i've been thinking so also. Your comment reaffirms my own thoughts and
now im sure i will do it.

"The second essay is unreadable "
I really think something is going wrong with your browser

"which (1) makes me lose interest (the drugs part, not the keywords
part) "
I dont think most people open up the source and inspect the keywords
when browsing website.
My intent was to capture a intoxicated google searcher audience.

"Â* Ah, a suffering artist, victim of a dark, tasteless system. Forced

well, your almost completely correct.
perhaps you were once the "victim of a dark, tasteless system"?
My hopes is that it will captivate
"a suffering artist, victim of a dark, tasteless system"

The Blog entries shown were written quite a while ago by my depressed
musician friend.
We went through alot together.
Im trying to build a website to draw people out of those bad times.
A website that wasn't there for me.
(thats the reason for the strange keywords).
I remember google searching thousands of different terms
just searching for the strange and poorly assembled website of another
like myself.
(im still trying to remember what some of them were, but im sure some
of them contained drug words..hense the drug words..just your
questioning made me think of some though. so thanks)
I did not find the lost and confused writings of the struggling
musician i was looking for.

But the website is not done yet
It had to include the depressed times, otherwise that "suffering
artist, victim of a dark, tasteless system"
wont ever listen. I have to get them captivated with depression
first.

thats my story

Thanks for all the comments on the web-design

-David

Well I believe that many sites, yours included, would be better
without any advertisements at all. I guess you have to weigh up
whether your site is a commercial venture (and how much money will
you actually make from these ads?) or is a personal project. The
problem is, as I see it, that your site _is_ actually a highly
personal site and such ads as 'Cool Trailer Accessories' detract from
this somewhat.

All the best,

Andrew
