PS. Err, Tony ...... what we're trying to tell you is that you need
'alternative text' on *all* your images .... and that you need to name
your frames properly ..... and that you should provide a non-frames
alternative.

Still, others will tell you that you shouldn't use frames at all --
but I wouldn't go that far ;-)

I'm not even getting a frameset document here. Are you??

Click on the 'Enter our Site' link.

regards.

Please indicate the OS and browser you are using.
Thank you.

The OS makes no difference at all.
Any text browser like
lynx and links will give you a similar
output. Others visitors surf with images
turned off in a normal browser, and will
be completely at lost.

Nothing to the fix: Set alt attributes.

Purple and green?
#113 and #033, actually.
English words for colors are always so ----- approximate.

Click on the 'Enter our Site' link.
Aha. A menu-looking thing to the left. Clicks do nothing.

<td width="100"><a href="CP.htm" onMouseOver="window.status='Linda
Slocum Antiques: Characters and Personalities';return true"
onMouseout="window.status='';return true" ></a>

[spacing added to illustrate]

<img border="0" src="cp0201a.gif" align="left" width="82"
height="22"></a></td>

Heh. The link has no width. The image is outside the </a> so nothing
works. Yes, JavaScript was on, though js should never be required for
navigation.

Then, I entered http://www.worksbyhand.com/CP.htm into the address
bar. Whoops! It takes me right back to "hellob.htm" ! (unless js is
off of course; then I see the unframed page with no navigation.

Let's say I want to tell my wife to browse to this "Characters and
Personalities" page. I cannot give her the URL. Frames: bad.

Time to go back to the drawing board, I'm afraid.

Thanks, jake - or should I be thanking you?

This is about the worst implementation of frames I've ever seen. Google
will never index this site. Noframes should be used to offer replacement
content and navigation for noframes users. And script links are asinine.

The OP has succeeded at making what could have been done so simply into a
totally confused mess of usability ignorance.

OS is irrelevant. Frankly, browser is too. It's just poor markup for any
UA.
