Hello.

I'd be grateful if you could offer me some constructive criticism on m
website, I'd be pleased if you could offer me any information and advic
on ways to improve the site in any way.

It is a personal website, with a blog and something about me.

Thankyou

I like it.
But there's two problems.

One problem is this one:
http://locusmeus.com/html-css/pageslipping.html

The other one is you are not where you think you are.
You (most probably, correct me if I'm wrong though) think
that you are on a forum, hosted by a website called
Forum4Designers. Well, you're not.

You're on Usenet, which can be easily visited through your
very own email/newsprogram. Forum4Designers is only 'putting
you through' to here. Please come here through the main
entrance instead of the back door, and you'll find plenty of
people who are willing to advise on just about anything to
do with websites.

1) No need for fixed width. Fluid would work fine here, and would look
better on the myriad of viewports not set to exactly 800px wide.

2) Link hover state (white on gray) makes them unreadable.

3) Overall - a wee bit boring graphically, but it's not bad at all.

As Els will have explained, you're actually posting into a Usenet
newsgroup (alt.html.critique).

As it's a personal Web site, just a few easy-to-implement suggestions:

(a) Ensure that the <title> </title> contents relate to the *page* that
it's part of -- not the site as a whole

(b) In the menu:
(i) Don't make a link active when it's pointing to the same page
it's on. e.g. on the 'music' page, don't make the 'music' entry an
active link.
(ii) Provide a means for users who are listening to the site (rather
than viewing it) to quickly bypass the menu and get straight to the
start of the main content. An easy way to do this is no put a 1-pixel
image at the start of the menu -- make it a link -- and point it to the
start of the main content.

(c) On the humour.html page, you've got a small error on the header:

<h1>Humour</h2> ................. it should be </h1>

As it is, you've got a rather large header ;-)

(d) When you want to show a photo, it's better to display in as a .html
page , rather than a .jpg image. The reason for this is that not
everybody is looking at the site - some will be listening to it.

If you put the image on a separate page, it gives you the opportunity to
add some text to describe and talk about the picture for the benefit of
those that can't actually see it.

(e) One last thing. Don't underline headers. Words that are underlined
are usually regarded as links.

Overall, it's quite a nice, functional *personal* site.

(Post back if you've got any queries on the comments)

regards

The Mozilla browser comes with a mail reader than can read newsgroups
and for the most part it works well. It's available in Gentoo, try

$ emerge -p net-www/mozilla
