Don't kill the messinger, but:

This is exactly the kind of site that should _not_ require any particular
backflips from visitors like downloading a plugin or reading a "how it
works" page before using the service. It is the kind of site that requires
extreme ease of use for the visitor.

I suggest a rewrite after doing extensive readings at:

http://www.useit.com
http://w3.com
http://www.webstandards.com

Thanks for the reply, but plugin is designed for the users ease of use.
You register, install plugin, and you good to go. You don't need to go
to giftula site to add every gift you want. Instead You go to any
store, find an item that you want right click somewhere on the page and
select add to giftula, and click ok. The gift is in your registry with
description of the gift, URL of the site where you found it. Try to use
it and you will see it is not that complicated.

[Convention here is not to top-post (posting above previous message).]

Sorry, but I have no more time to argue with you about this than to
waste time downloading a plugin. Do the readings that I suggested.

I would never, ever!, download a plugin from a site that offers
absolutely no assurance that the plugin is benign. Your setup is exactly
what phishing looks like. It may be as you claim but I have no way to
verify such.

You do know this is a HTML critique NG? Not much discussion about
appearance, design or layout.
- No DTD specified.
- Loads of HTML validation errors:
<http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.giftula.com%2 F>.
- Your HTML code is a mess. Antiquated style (a la 1995), clueless about
what "markup" really means.
- See
<http://www.pretletters.net/_test/common_mistakes_with_html4-01-strict_pages.html>.

Visually your site is very fragile. Change the text zoom, or text size,
in your browser and you will see how the appearance falls apart.
Font sizes are too small. The main body text is set to 70% of my
preference. The menu text is 56%. Why make me work so hard to read anything?

There are only the download links. No description whatsoever of what
they are or why I might want to go there.

Thanks.
What every other person said +:
You have several errors in your HTML code, 84 in fact.
Your site also does not fit on my 800x600 screen and brings my browser
Internet Explorer 6 too a crawl.
You also have some issues concerning the W3C Web Accessibility
guidelines.
http://dev.wave.webaim.org/Output.js... om%2F&md=nils
and
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...&outline=1
Fix all the errors and do something about the other issues and you
should be fine.
