Nice and clean enough looking but...http://htmldog.com/

The top left slither of a rectangle has no function (and seems not
aesthetically needed either).

Looks like a design that could be made more fluid easily to stop the
text breaking or threatening to break out of boxes when a user sees it
at a txt size setting your were not anticipating.

You really ought not to do stuff like:

<div align="center"></div>
<div align="center"></div>
<div align="center"></div>
<div align="center"></div>
<div align="center"></div>
<div align="center"></div></td>

But we are getting technical now eh? On this technical aspect, you
should try to at least validate the page. In fact, you should try to
separate out content from style a lot more, you should use a doctype.

This might give you a start:

That bit after the "..." was a last minute slip in a cut and paste
operation, it is not meant to be there.

You might not be thanking me by the time I've finished :P

Visually, looks OK. Not great, but OK

Code is awful:

No doctype
Full of errors
Presentational markup
No semantic structure, headers are just strong text
Tables for layout
Navigation is images of text instead of text, with no alt text, and no
reason for using images, it's plain white text in standard font
DreamWeaver generated JavaScript mouseovers which would be better done with
CSS
It is much too heavy (file size) for what it is.

Example copy that I knocked up:

http://nrkn.com/temp/tlc/

My copy is not exact, I didn't want to spend too much time on it, but it's
fairly close. Perhaps a little cleaner and more consistent if anything.

Original page:
Total HTTP Requests: 26
Total Size: 189148 bytes

Copy:
Total HTTP Requests: 5
Total Size: 71008 bytes

Note that the two images on the right are 64941 bytes between them. Remove
those (they're the same on my version and on yours) and the sizes are:

Orginal page:
124207 bytes

Copy:
6067 bytes

The original page is more than twenty times bigger than the copy.

It's not supposed to be there, if you view it with IE6 you don't see it.

Righto. Thanks, Nik, for info. I tend not to look at Win IE for things
on this usenet group...

I had a sneaking suspicion that it might be the case, given that the site is
in quirks mode
