IC,

You need more help than can properly be provided here.

Start at http://pages.prodigy.net/chris_beall/TC/index.html
Read everything there.
Spend a few days reading questions and answers at:
comp.infosystems.www.authoring.html
comp.infosystems.www.authoring.site-design

When you are ready to try again, be sure to start a new thread, rather
than posting a reply to an existing one. Your current post is attached
to a thread that started on May 24th. Lots of folks may never look at it.

Without looking under the covers, here are some things I see right off
the bat:
- Text on the home page, and navigation link text on all pages, is
fuzzy. It's big enough for me, but if it wasn't I couldn't resize it.
Other pages don't have this problem, but if I increase the text size
portions of the background color extend through and beyond the
right-side border.
- About 25% of the page is off-screen to the right. I have to scroll
horizontally to see it.
- The link for "JOIN THE COUNCIL" has a highlighted background when I
hover over it. None of the other links act like that. Oops, yes they
do; it just took so long for the highlight to appear that I had moved
the mouse off to another place. I suspect you are using images rather
than real text and CSS hover effects, which would react instantly. On a
hunch, I turned off JavaScript and the highlighting vanished completely.
- As I move from page to page, the URL shown in my address bar never
changes. I wonder what would happen if I tried to bookmark a specific
page. The title at the top of my browser never changes either, so it's
sometimes hard to tell which page I'm looking at. When I click on the
link "TESTIMONIALS" I go to a page on which that word never appears.
- On some pages (Mission, Ethics, Lenders, Testimonials) the
BorrowSmart logo is split in half by an extension of the background
color adjacent to the page header.
- On the Testimonials page under the video player it says "There May
Be 30 Second Delay..." I clicked on the "Michelle and Jason" link, then
waited 5 minutes while data poured into my machine. With this still
going on, I clicked on the Play button and got a few seconds of video.
Based on the progress indicator at the bottom of the player, I saw about
1/7th of it, which means it would have taken about 35 minutes for the
entire video to load. Unlike most players, this one doesn't show me how
the download is proceeding.
- On the under-construction Members page, there's a lowercase 't' all
by itself in the UL corner of the content area.
- The only press release on the site is in Microsoft Word format.
While many users will have access to tools that can read this format,
the document contains nothing that could not be conveyed using HTML,
which ALL web users can access.
- The general layout and color scheme looked fine to me. Good photos.
Well-written text.

On the home page. the text is too small for me to read, and my
browser cannot increase it. (Oh, it's all images; that's a no-no!)

Other pages fall apart when the text is increased to a readable
size ... and even when it's not.

The home page is completely blank if images are disabled. That is how
search engine will see it.
Serious accessibility problems. How would a blind person access this site?
No body background color defined.
Frames. Why?

No, it's a new post. Your newsreader is at fault there. T-bird seems to
combine threads where the Subject is exactly the same as a previous one.
(snip)
Beauregard,

Hmmm, and "Please critique" is somewhat likely to show up here more than
once. Thanks for the enlightenment.

Kind of odd. I just looked at the tripod site
http://www.tripod.lycos.com/compare/index.tmpl
and it appears that sites with up to 20MB of storage are free; all
others cost, starting at $4.95 (US) per month. Heck, for that price you
can get a real host! The free service also puts ads your site, so our OP
must be paying. You also have to use at least the $8.95 plan to get
email services. <shrug

Not really free, then. TANSTAAFL. :-)
