The links across the top and bottom are almost illegible due to
the colours; if I used a higher resolution screen they would be
too small to read, even with better colours. Do not use images for
text.

The page takes up only a small portion of my browser window,
leaving the rest blank. By default, HTML will fill the window; why
mess with it?

The code? 69K for a page that should need no more than 2 or 3K.
Then a whole bunch of unnecesary images on top. On a dial-up
connection, that is going to be horribly slow.

Note that MS Office does not produce web pages; it produces
documents rendered with HTML. A check with the W3C validator shows
62 errors.

You did that with Microsoft Word, correct?

No offense, but please start over with .. a text editor? That one page
is 64KB of Word stuff, and a few images. Have you looked at the source?

If you think you really need a WYSIWYG editor, try NVu.
http://nvu.com/
(It's a stand-alone version of the Mozilla Composer.)

Michael,

So, um, can I make payments with PayPal? :-)

As others have pointed out, these are not web pages. They are print
pages squished into HTML so they can, minimally, be displayed on the
web. To some users. With certain computer configurations.

Go to http://pages.prodigy.net/chris_beall/TC/index.html. Read
everything. Contemplate it. Reread "You don't know" and any other
sections that seem applicable to your situation. This will get you
started on the right track.

Others here have their own sets of
information-every-web-site-designer-should-know. Perhaps they will post
pointers to them. Read that too.

Then start over.

Ok, but how about the rest of the page. There's a lot you haven't seen yet.

The rest of what page? If you mean the rest of the site, what site?

Please include context when you reply to a Usenet article.

No doubt; where is it?

Remember, you are going to have to maintain this site. Tell me in six
months what is on Page309.htm ?
It's hard enough to tell what's on Page316.htm even with it open in

Hi,

I agree with most other things said here. The file sizes are way to big
for what they are presenting. Really, don't use MS Word to create web
pages. At least 90% of that code has nothing to do with html...

I had a bit of time to kill today so I spent it on rebuilding your
"About us" page with proper html/css. It took me about 10 or 15 minutes
to create this page. It's just over 3000 bytes in size. And your text
will not disappear underneath the images like it does with my browser
settings...

Here it is. Use it to build on if you like.

MS Word should not be used as a HTML editor, learne Valid HTML and CSS
and re-build the site.
With a good text editor, or use NVU as has been already suggested.
