Default Photography Website Design - 10-28-2006 , 02:37 PM

I was hoping to get some input on how effective my website
(www.lawsonstudio.com) design is and how it could be improved. Any
comments are very much appreciated. Also, if anyone has any suggestions
on how to get my website out and increase traffic without spending
outrageous sums of money I'm all ears. Thanks!

Well, from where I'm sitting it's busted.

"This either means that the username and password information in your
wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server
at mysqlhost. This could mean your host's database server is down."

OK; now functioning.

Without having looked at the source, other than to check that the JS is
just for the flashy bits, I like the style of your site. Nice pictures,
too.

A few points I noticed:

Some pictures get a black border/mount, at least one [wings of an angel]
does not.

The 'Good Vs Evil' image is missing.

Some of your friends' links are dead.

680kb for a picture [canyon path] is too big. Half the western world
still uses a 56k or slower dial-up connection.

The captions on your pictures are hard to read. I would replace them
with text in the html - this would look better and be more accessible.

I think that you need to decide what the site is for. You've taken some
great pictures for a high-school lad, and it may be that you'll be able
to make it as a photographer. If you want the site to have a 'pro' look
to it, you need to lose the links to your girlfriend's 'Myspace' site,
which I can't see anyway, and to anything else not related to you and
you photographs.

If, on the other hand, you want the page to be about you, the person,
rather than you, the photographer, then keep the links. How about some
for people whose photographs have inspired you. Have you seen Sue
Bishop's work with flowers? http://www.suebishop.co.uk/ I'm not trying
to imply that you go one way rather than the other, but if I'm thinking
of hiring a photographer then I don't need to know about his friends.

Other than that, nice work.

Nik

It would be good to see 'Recommended' spelt correctly.

It is painfully obvious from the hits I received that this service is
not sending people to the website as promised - but instead, automating
the process of loading my webpage through a software program or script.
I know this because for 6 months, 80% of my visitors performed a
specific act. Out of the hundreds of "visitors" this website claimed to
have sent, 0% performed this specific act.

They accept paypal payments. But PayPal does not tolerate fraud or
