This is not my site, but a friend of mine. I keep telling him that
there needs to be some changes made, but he won't listen to me. What
I plan on doing is getting everyone here to review it and I will send
all your comments to him. Thanks.

The URL is: http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~ab616/

Thanks,
Colin

I am a lurker in this group mainly to pick up tips from people who
know. But one thing is for sure... for obvious reasons, tabbed
browsing and background music do not go together.

The first random comic link I picked happened to be 404 not found (Nat
Gertler), but that isn't the only one. Dead links can kill a site pretty
quickly, so your friend needs to run link checks every now and then.

I'll agree with Mr Shagnasty that a personal site doesn't *have* to
follow good coding or design practices, but that doesn't mean it
*shouldn't*. The site does look very 1996-ish, and the background and
foreground color choices are not optimal for readability.

*** The site was made live just a couple of days ago.

That is what I have been telling him. Thanks for the support.

Cheers,
Colin

I tested the web site in five different browsers, Firefox, IE7, Opera,
Safari for Windows and Netscape 8 and only IE7 and Opera played the
music. I told him if you wish to place music on the site, add in a
play and stop button on the page so that the person viewing the page
is not made to listen to your music.

Cheers,
Colin

Does this fella still look at the internet or did he go offline in 1997?
It's wrong on so many levels I don't know where to start.

It starts by saying "Please bookmark these links for your convenience".
Now, WTF would I bookmark any of the links before I know what the site
is about?

So, I followed one of the links. I got a page which is almost
unreadable - multi-coloured text, prominent background, graphics that
keep twitching.

I think this is a hopeless case. Even if you can persuade him to make
several changes, the site will still be worse than useless. It does not
need to be improved, it needs to be deleted or ignored.
