Default Feedback Really Appreciated - 09-24-2006 , 04:29 AM

Hello,

A month or go I emailed this site asking for feedback on my site
Internet Security 101 - http://www.internetsecurity101.net. I got some
really good feedback, suggestions, and constructive criticism. Since
than I have made quite a few changes to the layout of my site and I
have added content as well. Anyways, I am once again asking for
feedback. Thanks in advance.

There was one iteration a while back (4-6 weeks?) that I though looked
very polished. Iirc you had used a template and with a few tweaks it would
have been good to go.
This one is a return to a less sophisticated layout.
- No background color specified for <body>
- The header graphic jumps around from page to page, and changes size
- The main nav menu is constantly changing from page to page
- HTML and CSS validation errors

I'd like to assume that this, too, is a template. What other reason
could there be to make a page that only works well in an 800px
window? And even then it only works with a limited range of font
sizes.

Thanks for your feedback. I have been working all evening at changing
my websites layout. It is a modified version of the template I used a
month or so ago. So far I only got the Index page done. What do you
think of my new index page http://www.internetsecurity101.net? Thanks
in advance. I have only had time so far to do the index page.

I didn't know that my page only works in an 800 px window. I used the
following template - http://www.oswd.org/design/preview/id/2834. Does
that template only work in an 800 px window or is it something that I
am doing to the CSS/HTML. As you can see, I did modify the HTML/CSS.
I have got to spend some time learning CSS. I am getting very
frustrated. I am using NVU as a web site editor. Do you know of a
good book on CSS? I know there are some excellent tutorials on CSS
online, but I think it would help if I had a book to learn CSS.
Thanks.

PS - I just checked my new index page for validation and it does pass
validation anyways. Thanks for your feedback.

The template has the same problem.

Validation doesn't mean the page works, only that you have no
errors in it.

I have found Cascading Styles Sheets: The Definitive Guide to be one of
those reference books I keep close to hand.

P.S.: Trim your posts. I get tired of slogging through irrelevant quotes
