Default Please help with design mock up - 12-24-2007 , 03:54 PM

I am making a website design and layout for a diamond e-retailer.
There is a photoshop mock up here: http://verkoso.com/img/layout-v2.jpg

The content for the website will be taken from the existing
verkoso.com site, so take a look at it too, the innards of the rounded
box in the middle would not be changed!

The picture with text on the layout-v2.jpg is the last frame of a
flash intro, which would be very similar in content to what is now
located at http://verkoso.com but smaller in size.

The website needs to convey trust, elegance, simplicity and ease for
users. How do you think it rates on those?

Also take a look at the page http://verkoso.com/search - how easy is
it to make searches for you?

Thanks a lot!

this site isnt going to do anything on search engines as theres no
copy for the search engines to read. as for the design its simple
enought but imho ineffective. have a look at some of the big e-tailers
in this industry like geraldonline and see how they do thing... bin
the flash intro in favour of getting some deals up in your face. its
hard enough to sell jewellery online so dont make it harder by adding
'bells n whistles' which do nothing more than waste time.

oh and read up on seo. i got a jewellery site to #1 on yahoo for
'jewellery' / page 1 for silver jewellery on google a few years
back... it took 12 months to get there.

Howdy Mark,

This is an accurate assessment. Too much graphics do not get order buttons
clicked. You build profitable web sites in plain simple HTML and then add
graphics where they will promote sales. Flash sites don't get indexed well
and lose a significant percentage of potential profits.

Try the free http://seo.bizycart.com Search Engine Optimization (SEO) manual
and you may find some tips you missed.

Thanks, Chris www.bizynet.com and www.bizycart.com
