Default Site check please :-) - 08-29-2005 , 09:48 AM

Hi,

I thought my site was working fine, but I just heard from a Safari user who
complained that the content is all squashed against the left side of the
window.

I've just re-validated the HTML and CSS, which seem to be OK, and I don't
think I'm doing anything stupid in the HTML. Please let me know if the site
looks OK in your browser:

<http://www.japanesetranslataor.co.uk/>

Apparently, in Safari 2.0 on Mac OS X 10.4 the entire content area for most
of the pages is scrunched up to the far left hand of the screen.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Phil

No Mac here; looks ok with Firefox on Win2K.

Thanks for figuring out my "unknown host" issue.

Okay Konqueror/Linux here.

But this menu is always dropped own; I've done nothing to open it.

My pleasure. <g> Something is going on with the site at the moment,
as it is currently displaying completely unstyled. Like the css file
disappeared.

Hmmm. The menu problem I mentioned WRT Konqueror doesn't happen with FF.

Konqueror/Linux

http://blinkynet.net/stuff/comp/dropdown.gif

I've seen that happen in some browsers with absolutely positioned
elements that don't have an explicit width. I've seen Opera do it, too.
I didn't notice when I posted that link that there are more items in
that menu (as I now see in FF) than what are showing in Konqueror, as
well.

Oddly enough, of the five selections I see in FF, the ones that show in
Konqueror are the first, third and fifth.

It's supposed to be a horizontal tabbed menu, not a drop-down :-(

Thanks for checking. I'll see what I can do about getting this fixed. And
sorry about the typo!

Not most of the pages, just the pages linked on the portfolio page-

The first 4 (Sudoku, Playstation, Sport and Puzzle) show up, to me, as
tiny columns far left.
The last (Order of Service) shows as a half-wide column far left.
I have absolutely no idea why it should be doing this, but I'll look into
it. Many thanks for helping out.

Phil

Yeah, I saw that later in another browser.
