Default Critique of shopping site - 08-20-2005 , 04:23 PM

This site was built using oscommerce. It is a shopping site, this is the
second site under the domain name. Please post feedback, kind or harsh.

Code:
- Apparently you serve the site by using a META refresh to send the actual
site code.
- You extremely pissed me off by disabling the RMB.
- Your code is a mess. And it looks like is has another complete page
embedded in it.
I presume you did the above to prevent people from seeing your code or
copying images. Your effort, as are all such efforts, is a dismal failure.

Design:
- You use tables for layout. Bad!
- The layout itself is inflexible; it does not adapt to user preferences.
For instance, I have a minimum font size set for my browser. This makes
your navigation look like crap, and causes various headings to overflow
into other columns.
- The link design is... random.
1. You changed the default link style to remove the underline. So
finding a link becomes an easter egg hunt.
2. The links at the top and the headings below look the same so I
thought the headings were links until I tried to click on them. Surprise!
3. Another link color for navigation. (Not necessarily bad.)
4. Yet another link color for image captions.
So now I have at least three text colors that may or may not represent
a link.
- The body text is center-justified. There is no reasonable justification
for doing that.

Other:
- Typos are inexcusable. For instance, it is "collectibles", not
"collectible's".

osCommerse shop, I am working on a better way

Only script and background images are in the tables.

Right Mouse Button.
Obviously a right-handed bias since it is the Left Mouse Button for
left-handed mice. Better would be Outside Mouse Button.

Your site has shown me to avoid osCommerce like the plague.
I looked at the osCommerce demo. I do not see the incredible mess your
site shows. I suspect it is not only an osCommerce problem.

You've not seen the generated code then. Tables are used for all
layout, even the most trivial parts.
