Default All done but low turnover??? Need Help. - 11-04-2006 , 07:26 AM

Hello guys, I've been through this forum and got to understand most of
you guys are in building and construction. I organzied a construction
tradeshow on my website but suffering low visitation. I wonder if any
of the good guys in this forum could have a look and let me know what
the problem could be is it the content or the marketing that caused
this problem?? Help is appreciated.

It is very slow to load, has justified text which a lot of people find
hard to read and has cheap tinny sounding music, all of which cut down
on repeat visitors. The counter looks silly, and counts every time you
refresh or change pages.

My $0.02 (not an expert - but know what I like)

It looks a mess in my browser. Try testing your site in something other
than IE, like Firefox or Opera, both of which are free downloads. Tips:

1. Never use MS Office to make web pages.
2. Never use FrontPage extensions.

If you want to present your site as being professional, get rid of
cheesy effects and content like music, jokes, and other stuff that has
nothing to do with what you're promoting. Focus on engineering and
construction, if that's what the site is supposed to be about.

I downoaded firefox, the browser looks great but my site looks
terrible.

Since it is impractical to change 1500 pages using FrontPage, I made
few changes, I removed the "Cheesy" music and insrted a note that the
site is best viewed with Explorer.

Now from my site stats I noticed the number of Mazilla users is less
than 2%. Whether the others ran away from my site or whether 2% is of
web users only use Mazilla I have to wait and see.

Thanks again guys you've been of great help.

Learning the error of your ways is a big step towards making a better
web site.

Saying it is best with IE is not a productive thing to do. Those who
already use IE won't care, and those who don't aren't likely to switch
browsers just for your site, assuming they can run IE in the first place.

It may be impractical to change 1500 pages using FrontPage, but changing
them is nonetheless The Right Thing to do. With that many pages, you
really should invest in a CMS anyway.

Glad to see you posted your message here.

CMS - Content management system, there are lots to choose from. i would
suggest google CMS and your OS of choice to get a list of what is
available. Then peek around at them to get an idea of what they offer.
Once you have the general gist of what they do and how they do it, post
another message for suggestions as to which ones will work for your
application.
