You might want to think about marking up the navigation as a list. Some assistive user agents might read the navigation as one word. You might also want to put a "skip navigation" link styled accordingly as well. What do you mean by a "skip navigation" link? |

Note that this is controversial advice, "skip navigation" links are an attempt to kludge around a problem instead of solving it. Actually, I think they can be quite useful, regardless of how the document is structured. Somebody (Els, I think) gave an example recently of how they browse on a mobile device, and how handy skip links can be in that kind of situation. Just putting the content structurally before the navigation isn't necessarily enough, or the best (or only) way to go. |
