Hi, i'm really bored with my site, yet I can't work out what to do with
the design. Help www.ainsleehooper.com

Ditch the frameset on the genealogy pages and the
horizontal scrollbar on the gallery page!

The blacktop road image is a great little zap of edgy creativity. Kind of
gets ruined by the ancient cliche of the stork carrying the baby right
beside it. Think I'd kill the other images, too, and let the road sand by
itself for the opening page.

The medium-yellow headers/links on light-yellow is just a little TOO subtle.

Since links like "Family Tree Stuff" are doubling as headers, you need to do
something to make them, well, _headers_.

<a...><h*>Family Tree Stuff</h*></a>
is OK. Also legal is
<h*><a...>Family Tree Stuff</a></h*>.

Your choice, depending on whether you think it's more of a header that
happens to be a link or a link that happens to be a header. That's the
semantic part; you can make it _look_ the way you want in CSS, and I'd
make it larger than the text.

None of the JavaScript stuff is really needed on this site, and the effects
can mostly be done with CSS anyway. No need to have it muddying your
markup.

I'd reduce the size of that monster Google logo, and also make the box the
form is in transparent or the same color as the background. The search
box visually breaks up the page as it is, and it's not really important
enough to warrant that.

The background has no color assigned. On the page, I see my default
aqua as the background color... <g>

You're right, Beauregard, good eye. The browser I grabbed had its
background set almost the same color as the header/links, making them
almost invisible. That background needs to be set to some color.

Setting your browser default background to something unusual is an old
brucie-tip. <g> There are so many sites out there that I see as aqua.
It's not pretty. This one in particular is quite amusing:

Would look even better on sites that have an image with transparency, with
the image anti-aliased to white...
