Try #428484. Please? Just so we can determine if it works on your system. It
works on mine.

Besides, 42 is a Very Important Number.

I had a huge rant a couple or three years ago on the subject of 15 bit
safe
colours and the now obsolete web safe colours. It'll be in the archive
somewhere.

no need to look i saved the article ID in my links where it couldn't
escape:

rf's novella on web safe colors:

Strewth. I didn't think it was *that* big :-)

There is another novella laying around somewhere on the difference between
24 and 15 bit colour and a discussion on why web safe colours don't fit into
15 bit colour space. Basically an expansion of the last paragraph in the
above. It did extend into exactly how 15 bit colour cards do their thing and
why it's futile to cater to them.

I'll have a look around for it :-)

my cute little eyes and my eyedropper report the image and the other

16bit both: #428284
32bit both: #408080

Opera - Yay.
IE - Yay.
Firefox - Boo. At 16-bit.
If you are talking about brucies shit link above then I get perfect results
with firefox at 16 bits.

Can you post a screenshot of your system somewhere, preferably a bmp so
there is no colour alteration (as a gif would and a jpeg would) (a small
one, just that corner) or a png?

You have me intrigued and when I am intrigued you don't get off lightly :-)

Yep. I'll now *have* to dig up the article on 15 bit cards :-) Stand by...

As far as I am aware, yes. I am stoopid though.
