It's as much your fault as the fault of marketing
types if you insist on using a browser that can't
handle this simple problem. Or, just turn off
javascript.
Really good browsers allow you to accept pop up
windows that you actually click on, still filtering
out those that are raised without your permission --
all while leaving javascript on.
Suggest you google around for browsers and try out
three or four.
You can control other kinds of near-popups by using
your own CSS settings, and turning off flash and java.
