Thanks!

The overall look of the home page is nice. The hover of links in the
body are (putting it mildly) startling - I almost jumped out of my
chair. None of the visited links show clearly that the have been
visited. I do not want to have to remember which page(s) I have looked at.

This line <br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br> causes your footer to be
below the fold in my window at 1024x768.

The other pages should follow much more closely the format of the home
page - I thought I had left your site again.

On this page: http://www.stamnurseries.com/catalog/login.php you have a
closing PHP tag, ?>, at the bottom.

When I put my mouse over a link, the links in the navigation box
automatically gets some padding (i.e. more space appears around the links)

Your navigation box is overlapping the text on this page in my browser:
http://www.stamnurseries.com/requestform.html and the box moves to the
right the first time I place my cursor over a link.

To keep the site consistent, I think it would be better if the text was the
same size on all the pages (its a slightly smaller font size in the
e-commerce part of the site).

On the login page, this image
http://www.stamnurseries.com/catalog...n_continue.gif
and ones similar to it would be better on the page if the white area was
transparent. (i.e. a transparent GIF)

Jim.

Browsing the catalog is just awful. All that scrolling is nasty. Why is
there no "add to cart" from there? I sure wouldn't want to sit at the
order page and type all that stuff in. Where do they get the prices,
anyway? They aren't listed in the catalog.

Think about how your clients normally order from you. Do any tend to
specialize in certain types of trees, or do they all tend to order a
variety of deciduous, evergreen, and ornamentals? Would they prefer to
browse or search by tree family (oak, spruce, etc.), by botanical name,
by zone-hardiness (assuming you're not limited to Canada), or something
else?

Give some more thought to what would best serve your clients,
considering the ordering patterns of the past, and come up with
something easy for them to use. Then they might even use it.

The order page also mentions something about Terms at the bottom of the
page, but there isn't anything specific mentioned. If I were a new
client, I'd want to see your standard terms before I ordered. I'd also
want to know about your return policy and other such info.

There isn't any general info about the company, either. As it is, I
don't think I'd order from you unless I were an existing customer and
already had a good relationship with you. It's a bit hard for me to
imagine that someone unfamiliar with your nursery would choose you over
someplace like <http://www.diddley.com/>

I'm not saying you need anything that fancy, but maybe it will give you
a few ideas on how you might improve your own site.

ok, I will fix this...change the mouseover so the background colour stays
the same and change the visited property.

right..I'm sure I had a reason to do it (maybe not a good one)..I will try
to figure out something better.

I guess you mean the "browse catalog" link here...yeah, it's an old version
of the site I rather wish I didn't have to work with, but you're right, if
I'm going to use it Im gonna have to hunker down and try and make it look
more reasonable.

ah, need some padding don't I! Yeah, I see the box move to the right in
IE..why is that? It seems to default too far to the left, then snap into
place when you move your cursor over...in Firefox I don't see this
behaviour. I can't figure it out, but I wanna fix it...I will keep looking.

good point...I need to modify my splash page or the Oscommerce page more...I
guess the best way would be to get them working off the same stylesheet?

you're right...I have a feeling I should just make a whole new set of
buttons to better match the colour scheme.

You're right..the owner wanted everything on one page, and didn't want to
reveal his (wholesale) prices to the masses..I hope to get rid of the tables
site altogether and just let people browse the Ecommerce side...

good points..I will take this into consideration... The first point of the
site is to serve existing customers, then we would look to try to attract
new business to the site.

yes, very good point. I will get this information and add it!
