I would have to say number two. The buttons on 1 and 3 look like
stock buttons out of some bad wysiwig editor.

No wonder since I use FronPage :-)
But the number 2 is my favourite two for a start.

About the background: We'll probably end up in something totally different
:-)
Arrrrghh, I sometimes *hate* this design work. It's allways far more work
(for me) to make a design than to build the whole site.
