Sure. Are you familiar with WEFT?

Also I replaced the images I was using for the anchors to make the site
easier to edit and to decrease load time and the number of files on our
server.

a forum. Both of them are simply web based access to usenet.

Why not just switch on your newsreader and access the newsgroups directly.
The web site you are using gives you no indication at all that your posts
are in fact going to the newsgroup alt.html.critique. Nor does it mention
that ALL of its contend is taken from there and several other usenet
newsgroups.

I'm looking into making the site more
"liquid" so the resolution will look better. Two of my latest concerns
are: reducing load time,

Compress the images. For example logo_HIAS.jpg is only 159x74 pixels but is
a massive 12400 bytes. Convert it to a two colour gif and it would be about
2000 bytes. The other three images are similar, over 15000 bytes.

The whole page weighs in at 117K. It should be no larger than about 40. That
would reduce your load time to one third.

There is also a huge number of gifs you use for your nav bar. First of all,
don't use pictures of text, use the real text. Aural browsers can not read
pictures of text.

Once you use real text your navigation can be done with just one or two
images used as a background. Loadint 20 images means 20 round trips back to
the server and this is expensive in time. For me each trip takes at least
400 milliseconds so your load time is, at a minimum, 8 seconds and I am on
broadband.

BTW your navigation will not work if javascript is not available.

See above. 117K will take at least 18 seconds, plus that 8 seconds for the
trips back to the server.

Don't. googlebot can not read images. Images do not resize. Major
accessibility problems.

I'm using it so the page will be easier to edit and update by a
non-tech person when I leave the office.

Not a good enough excuse for crippling the site.

Italics is very hard to read on a computer screen, especially the large
block you have there.

Don't embed any fonts. Use the ones your viewer already has. They are used
to looking at web pages using them. There is nothing special about your page
that is requires a radically different font.
