you read the header/banner/whatever at the top of a page. In all the
page design texts that I have read or been taught that is the least
important part of the page, it's the last thing a reader scans, and
doesn't affect the readability of the text on the page.
Oh my God. The header and first sentence are ... just forget it, okay?
And don't put on airs about knowing how to read, either!

I'm not putting on airs matey, just wind your neck in OK.

If you can't be clear and concise with your answers you may as well not
respond.

I followed the advice often given here and left it up to the user to
choose their own line length by adjusting the width of their browser
window. ;-)

That's not the issue. On YOUR window with YOUR setting, didn't you notice
anything odd or jarring?
How

I don't see anything resembling this on any of the pages, regardless of
text or window size. I think a screenshot would be helpful.

It's in the Falklands, the one it's on now.

Well, consider using a little server-side magic to test the IP of the
visitor, serve them a graphical header if they're in the Falklands and a
text header if they're outside.

This way the image never leaves the islands, so you don't need to worry
about it clogging up your plumbing.

That's a good point, and one that I have considered. But I'm not really
concerned about the stuff going out of the islands because basically
there are only http requests and emails going out anyway.

I've had a play with putting a photo behind the headline. I'll try for
something better if the organisation like it.

By providing a screenshot? I too don't know what your gripe is :-)

This is EXACTLY why I don't usually provide follow-up. Your disingenuous
reply is a complete waste of my time.
I have absolutely no idea what the above means and I have absolutely no idea
what your other posts are about either.

What is this? a guessing competition? We have to guess what your posts mean
or what you are thinking? I note the OP is as much in the dark as I am.

Cheers
Richard.

I, too have no idea what you are talking about. I do not see anything on
the site that looks at all like the above. A screenshot *would* be
helpful.

Nothing others haven't already said, except that the forum pages don't
seem to fit with the rest of the site. I immediately got lost without
the top navigation, and the colours are completely different.

The site looks nice though. :-)

The forum is a concern. It is an off-the-shelf freebie, YaBB. It is
customisable, and I had one go at it using the colours that I have used
on the rest of the site, but it looked terrible so I left at the default
for the moment. Will be putting in the top navigation so that at least
that part will look like part of the site.
