good work, clear and to the point.

o why XHTML?
o Is there a non rural ba on the islands?

On the login page: the <p> elements containing the input boxes should be
<label> elements.

On the commitee page: This looks odd in the current table structure ...
<td>Paul Robertson (Port Stephens)
<br />
Stanley</td>
<td>42306
<br />
21096</td>

Hope it's not too slow when viewed from outside of the islands.
Nope - loads fine here (uk/cable-dsl)

Despite Mark's disorientation, he does bring up a valid point. The page is
a little bland.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Falkland Islands are rather pretty. Take
advantage of that. Step outside with a digital camera and take a few
photos and put together something like this:

http://www.goddamn.co.uk/tobyink/scratch/rba.org.fk/

I was a little rushed in finding a nice picture of the Falklands, and
you'd need to work a little bit on liquidity, but you get the idea, right?
IIRC the Falklands have a very small pipe to the outside, something like
10Mbps for the entire country. The images would have to be much smaller than
100+K :-)

Cheers
Richard.

It's not too slow here.

Lose the quotation marks around "Rural Business Association"; in normal
English usage, proper names aren't quoted and the effect of the quotes is
to create the impression that you're not talking about the "real" group.

I don't think that <abbr> markup is necessary or even desirable when
mentioning an abbreviation in the immediate context of what it stands for.

On the commitee page: This looks odd in the current table structure
also on the comittee page. not sure how to get around it, but I try to
minimise the need to put email addresses on pages - for spam reasons. try
perhaps to make alternative contact methods such as submitting messages to
these people and letting the server deside what email address to send the
message to.

just a thought.

True, but as I say, it was just a quickie and still needed a bit of work.

Let your eyes tell you as you slowly scan the page - are they tired from
bouncing left, right, left? Anything jarring? There's one item.

LOL if only we had 10Mb/s we have 1Mb/s in and 512kb/s out.

And as I said the people that this site is meant for, the forum and
members area being the main parts, are going to live in the remote rural
places where if they are lucky they will get 33k connections.

I did originally make a header image exactly as Toby demonstrated but
took it out.

I also tried making a watermark type background with a map of the
islands, but decided that it didn't add anything and took it out.

There are plenty of pretty Falkland pics sites out there already.
I've a few on my site at http://www.viking-house.com/webalbum/photos.php

Thanks for the input anyway.

Cheers
Chris

o why XHTML?
Why not, I'm trying to learn it, and it's future proof, I hope.

Yes, the Chamber of Commerce I guess, anyway that's what it's called and
when they get it to me there will be a page explaining the history of
the organisation.

I'll fix it

hmmm It;s because he has two phone numbers on in Port Stephens and one
in Stanley. Hopefully they align correctly.

I offered to do that for them but they wanted the email addresses on the
page. No doubt when they are snowed under with offer to supply them with
cheap viagra they will come back to me :-(

Shouldn't that be loose ;-)
It's a good point though.

Agreed. I put that in when I was only using the abbreviations, instead
of the full names, and then when I put in the full name I didn't remove it.
