You need alt tags.

alt>This content is between alt tags.</alt

Is that what you meant?
Nope, Leo is correct,
I was thinking of:-
</table>
<img src="images/beach.jpg" alt="some text that will give
your users the information in the graphic"></td>

<td width="1" bgcolor="#000000"></td>
<td width="575" valign="middle"><p><img src="images/home.gif"
alt="Welcome --- the info in your home gif." width="572"></p>
</td>

All of the important "first view" information for your users is included
in the graphics. You need to make sure that potential customers whithout
graphics enabled can see your information.

Load a copy of firefox or opera and view your site with the graphics
turned off.

cheers

Jim

I'll bet it wasn't. There may have been a time when I called elements
tags. I know! "alt" is an attribute.

A small minority have actually read the HTML and CSS specs. If we all did,
there would only be esoteric discussion of complex issues.
I'd feel left out :-(
(laughter) You are right of course, sigh! one of these days I realy must
get around to reading the specs.

Cheers

Very good, Grasshopper.

I do understand the mistake since I
see it every day in these groups. I suppose it's from people attempting
to
learn HTML from bogus sources on the net. Or from coming from the sloppy
outside world where precise syntax is often not required as it is in
computerese.
Mmm-hmm.

Lets see now, Um ...
HTML: elements with or without attributes.
Yes, and the attributes have values. And tags are part of the code that
defines an element.

Quote:
CSS: rules that have selectors and declarations. And the declarations
have properties and values.
Excellent.

That's nine definitions total.
Not really all that much to remember. And it sure helps the beginner keep
things straight if you use the right words.

Easy peasy as someone we know would say, and yet a small minority of
people who publish on the web know them.
That minority are the Princes among men.

Inevitably: "Not the SGML FAQ". See part 5.

[SCNR]

In case anyone misunderstands this, I don't actually recommend doing
what it suggests (note the date on it, as well as its jokey title).
