Web applications tips & tricks?

Hi,

I browsed the Net but didn't find a good document that would summarize
things that any developer coming from the world of dedicated apps
should know when learning how to develop web applications (eg. HTTP is
a stateless protocol, what is CGI, etc.)

Anybody knows of a good source of infos?
