Default Turquoise Color Clash Wanted - 02-01-2006 , 10:48 AM

Hi,

I have an unusual challenge. I'm authoring a web page that is intended
to be deliberately hostile to readers. For reasons I won't go into the
background is required to be turquoise (#40E0D0). I need a text color
that is particularly grating on the eye.

Suggestions are welcome, and if I've posted to the wrong group or you
know of a better one, please let me know.

Thanks,

NigelH

If you want hostile have the text the same colour as the background -
they won't be able to read it at all!

For a clash try bright orange.

Try #41E1D1. It's not exactly grating, and if you like turquoise it
actually looks quite pleasant, but it's certainly hostile to actually
reading anything.

Though, really, if you want hostile, use * {color: #fff; } and
'forget' to set a background colour.

Incidentally, if you want some ideas for how to make a hostile page then
http://www.dur.ac.uk/its/services/web/accessibility/reasons/inaccess/
has some examples of hostile pages that might be useful to you (I
assume you need the hostile page for similar reasons?)

For a clash try bright orange.
Thanks.

The object is not for the text to be invisible, but as painful as
possible for the reader. There's allegedly a 'famous' pink/turquoise
clash that would meet my requirements but I can't find the hex values
for it.

What hex value would you suggest for bright orange?

Don't forget to put it inside both <blink> and <marquee>, then. Use a
different <marquee> per paragraph to make them out of sync. Password
protect the page to ensure no-one accidentally reads it, and don't
look at it for too long yourself.

Pink would be something like FF8080, but you might need to play around
with it a bit.

FF8000 is probably the brightest orange you can get, but you might
want to play with it a bit.

Depends on the viewer. Turquoise/pink is famous, but it is also
attractive to some in a 50's retro way. I knew a turquoise/pink Nash
Metro convertible that was just beautiful.

Thanks. FF8080 is not as unreadable as I hoped but it's on the right
lines. I'll have a play.

You can tell I'm not a high powered web designer - bright orange on
turquoise actually looks quite pleasant to me! At least it's quite readable.
