Default Thoughts? - 12-10-2004 , 11:07 AM

Hi,

I was wondering if you could give me ideas on the design of this page so
far? None of the links are active yet and the data is false, but I was just
wondering on any ideas about the design? I'll shortly be adding the CSS and
ALT tags suggested on another site I had reviewed on here.

Thanks,

Rich

Well Rich (or is it Mike?), what else was said about your previous site?
Something on tables for layout perhaps or about microfonts? What about
fixed width designs? Or on validation?

I'll check in later. Perhaps.

If someone suggested ALT tags, have them shot. ALT "values" or ALT "text",
OK...

A nitpick, but if you can't use the proper terms we can't be guaranteed to
know what you're up to, and you can't be guaranteed to understand our
responses.

Fix the things that need fixing first. Then re-request critique.

1) Not sure about the choice of images on the site...

You have a couple of images of the shop on the page - inside & outside
- which is fine as this appears to be a site to promote this store.

The other images on the page *suggest* to me that, amongst other items,
the store sells products made from lions, rhinos, elephants, and ...
African tribesmen.

Whether this is true or not, I don't know, but it is the message I get
from the images on this site.

2) Are these really 'Specialist Zimbabwean & S. African foods':
Coca Cola bottles
Mars Celebrations
Pepsi Can
Carling 12x Cans
Heinz Baked Beans
Kellogs Corn Flakes
New Forest Still Water

Strange that, 'cause I can get all of those almost anywhere in the UK.

OK, I know it's early days for the site yet, and you did say the data
included was false, but if the store is truly a Specialist in
Zimbabwean & S. African foods, then I'd make more use of that and focus
on these items, rather than general goodies that you can get anywhere.

Hi David,

Yep that's just false data as the site isn't live yet. As I don't run the
shop and never even been in the southern hemisphere I didn't have a clue
what to put as the fake data.

Your comments about the images are appreciated and a few other people have
told me that too. I'll get onto it and maybe have product pictures instead.

Thanks Barbara. Useful link - I'll get onto that also.
