"Apologies for any crosspostings" - that's kind of like slapping somebody in the face, and then saying, "Oh, apologies for any slaps in the face." Then, slapping them again a minute later. =)

Apologies for the following FLAME:

Repeating a spam posting is very stupid. Especially if you are saying
nothing.

At least my post was intended to lighten things up and might have been appreciated by a few, whereas yours seems only to be designed to make someone else feel small and thus yourself a little bigger.

You where repeating a SPAM. You tried to make fun of the OP. You accuse
me of something you yourself started. And now you try to make me feel
bad / smaller. You failed and you lost, two times now.

John, I'm not competing. I'm sorry that you didn't like my joke. That's all I have to say about this non-issue.

Wishing you well,

Patty

Nor am I. But if you want to react to a spam at all (which I recommend
*not* to do) *never* repeat the URL. That was not a joke. And when
someone points that out to you IMHO you shouldn't try "reverse
psychology" and give him/her a bad feeling but say something like "you
are right, I am sorry". Never hurts to admit you are wrong :-)

Besides I tied to be funny too with my "apology" :-).

Thanks, you too :-)

The point was, you could have made your comment (which I rather
enjoyed) without giving the spammer yet another shot at everyone's
eyes. You could (and should) have snipped out the advertised URL, at
least.

And by the way, please attribute your quotes.
