It does, however, generate recursive directories and automagic parsing
of captions, which is why I bring it to your attention.

The page http://marginalhacks.com/Hacks/album/Documentation.html offers
an approach that works, for at least small values of "works."

I just thought of this because re-writing album to be xhtml/css with
xml captioning is on my ToDo list.

2. She'd like each of those pages to have 3 links: 1 back to the
gallery, 1 to the next image in the gallery, and one to the previous
image. There is also a catalogue of all her work. The catalogue has no
thumbs, but does have a link to every image she has ever put on the
site, including those currently on display in the galleries.

So I need a url for an image page that can be linked to from gallery,
where there will be "next" and "prev" links, and a link from the
catalogue, where there may or may not be such links, depending on
whether the photo is in a gallery at the moment.

I've looked at the way blogs do this. They have an "archive" section
with url based on date. That really won't work for me. I also don't see
"next" and "prev" links in those archives. I've also looked at other
photographers' sites, but I haven't seen anything that is userfriendly.
If anyone knows examples for me to look at, I'd appreciate the links.
