You might be able to do this -- N.B. _might_ -- but for many of your
visitors that will be the first _and_ last page of yours that they
see.
Look at it from the viewpoint of a visitor: you have searched at
Yahoo or Google for a particular topic, you have a couple of dozen
(or couple of thousand) page links, and you start trying to winnow
through them. You chick on Mike Elliott's page, but the page you're
taken to doesn't have the content that your search engine said. You
mutter a curse at out-of-date search indexes, click "back", and
proceed to the next hit, at someone else's site.
