Default Logos for "Link Stable" (was: a campaign for real hyperlinks) - 07-04-2004 , 06:33 PM

I've now produced some logos for "Link Stable" (aka "Campaign for
Real Hyperlinks").

The first says "Link Stable - Guaranteed!"

The second contains the "Link Stable" slogan and a tick, based on
the W3C's XHTML and CSS logos.

(Before you says anything, yes I know the text isn't anti-aliased
properly in the second logo; it's just something I knocked up
quickly to demonstrate, not a final product).

I've put the logos on my blog at:
<http://www.zen19725.zen.co.uk/weblog/current.html>

A permalink to the page is:
<http://www.zen19725.zen.co.uk/weblog/art_257.html>

Let me know what you think...

Looks good :-). I chose "link stable" because it was a lot shorter than
"the campaign for real hyperlinks"[1] so it fitted on the logo a lot
better -- I'm open to alternative suggestions though.

Oh, two Ts in Blissett[2], please :-)

Matt :-)

[1] And also because this keeps reminding me of The Campaign For Real
Cats, a joke in _The Unadulterated Cat_ by Terry Pratchett.

[2] I'm used to misspellings, Bliset, Blisset, Blisett, Blizet, Blizzet,
Blizzsett, Blissit, Blisit, Blessett, Blissart, Blissert, etc, so nor to
worry.

It's also a lot more catchy.

Apparently some of the Campaign for Real Ale people are totally anal
and really really dislike it when anyone uses a slogan with
"Campaign" and "Real" in it. You'd think they own the English
language.

Really ! That's quite amazing. Who _would_ have thought it?

Oh, and what part of the 6-year old "Cool URIs don't change" haven't we all read?

Let me know what you think...
"sta.ble2 n. A building for the shelter and feeding of domestic
animals, especially horses and cattle."
<http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=stable>

I would probably have chosen "Permapage" -> 1) it is not about stable
links but about stable page locations, if I'm not mistaken, and 2) the
term Permalink already exists.

I think you want the 3rd sense from Wordnet:
"resistant to change of position or condition"

Stable makes sense to me, and I definately think it makes more sense
than coining a new word.

Jim.

My whole point was that "Link Stable" is a new term. This is already
called "permalink". Or am I missing something? When I read "Link
Stable" I initially did not understand it

I wondered if it meant a 'house for horses',
then pondered whether it might be a 'cute'
way of expressing 'Links Table'.. It was
only the context that made it apparent it
was a link that would not change.

(shrugs) I prefer 'permalink'.

above list that I recognize. ]

That's not a bad idea.
