Default A legal question - 06-18-2004 , 08:04 AM

Hi group...

I know I should consult a lawyer (and I will) but wanted your thoughts.

I am creating a website that will allow users to upload files (most likely
word, powerpoint, pdf, etc). The problem is, if a user uploads a Word doc
with a virus, and someone downloads it, I'm probably liable (or could be if
the person decides to sue).

Have any of you run into this? Is there legal language that would
essentially tell users that they are responsible for downloading content and
the website takes no responsiblity in whatever they download? This would be
a great service to those using the site, but I want to cover my a$$ also.

Your thoughts???
Thanks!
Manta

This is definitely a start. Especially the suggestion to post on the legal
forum.

anyone else have an answer or some thoughts on my original question?

Thanks!
