O, IGIN. TFEYA.

Oops. Forgot the translation: "plonked you because you top posted".
I actually preferred Marks' variant.

"Poinky You Bastard You Top Posted"

But maybe that is because I'm an Aussie. ;-)

[ For those uninitiated in 'Strine. The term
'Bastard' is a very malleable term that can
equally be applied to your best friend as your
bank manager. ..and has nothing to do with this
trivial matter of whether your parents happened
to be married (to each other even) at the time
of your birth. ]

Yes, I knew MS Frontpage was adding some extra data but "assumed" that
since I am an amateur coder that FP was doing things the right way.
I did not mean to step on any toes.
Just wanted to ask a few questions.

I am using HomeSite 4.5 ..

'HomeSite'.. does it do 'WebSite's as well?

..now or will code it by hand.

I recommend that and the validator.

Homesite is an editor, and a particularly good one.

I feel I know you well enough to presume..
a) You would not put up with an HTML/CSS
editor that mangled the source.
b) You could know 'mangled' when you saw it.

In that case I change my recommendation.
'Homesite and the validator'

..but then, 'Poinky Doinker' never read my
original recommendation and will probably
ignore this one. ;-)

[ ..and all because he claimed to be a 'hosting site'*
in his original post and becames peeved when I
expressed concern for his clients.
* Merely a bad choice of expression, as it happened,
I understand the confusion was never intentional. ]

Frontpage does things in a really, really stupid fashion. I've said that
Dreamweaver can produce good code if it's being used by someone who
doesn't need Dreamweaver to produce good code. Frontpage is worse than
that.

Dreamweaver can be used by a pro as a time saver. No matter how good you
are, though, Frontpage is a time waster.

Ow, my toes! Seriously, check out the w3schools tutorials, and bookmark
this page for details on the various HTML elements:

A tip for you. *Anything* that starts with
'MS' is to be taken with some suspicion.

If the MS thing renders HTML,
check it in a real browser.

If the MS thing *produces* HTML,
check it in the validator.

MS has a nasty habit of 'almost' meeting the
spec., 'almost' doing it right, but they like
to throw in quirks for the unwary.

You need to remember what the 'w' in www
stands for, and it ain't the 'windows'
wide web. ;-)
