Get backlinks from as many sites as possible, ideally from some pages
with good toolbar PageRank (5 or higher.) After that, just wait until
Google indexes your site.

Just go to www.google.com/adwords/.

It'll explain the rest ...... it works if you're prepared to pay & monitor
it.

Sam,

What kind of product or service are you marketing on your website? I have
found that Google AdWords is very effective for clients marketing themselves
to the national and international audience. Regional businesses typically
don't feel as good about search engine marketing because they are paying to
advertise to the world when they can really only accommodate a small
geographic region of business.

If you are selling products, in addition to Google AdWords, you may want to
look at Froogle which is in beta on google.com. Overture.com is the other
major player in the pay per click area.

Do we know when this might be available to UK merchants?
Looks good.

Hi Mark,

Not yet, but I have several clients listed on it at the moment and you need
to be shipping to the states and have your site pricing quoted in US$.

The service is not yet fully launched, but it should be interesting to see
if it drives sales up for my customers.

Email froogle-support (AT) google (DOT) com with the url of your site and they will
check it out and see if it is acceptable and if so then they will get you to
sign a merchant agreement form for supplying the feeds.

As usual it is great to deal with google, pleasant guys and girls in there
(go on google you know me lift up more of my sites for being nice >:¬} )
