Looks like there is a submission fee and a cost per click rate for the
"site match" program versus the inktomi one time annual fee for site

I found the section on disclusure issues at the end the most interesting.

They make a good point, that if yahoo's search results are from paid
inclusion then they are advertisments in every respect, and the Federal
Trade Commission will require yahoo to disclose that fact. Yahoo must
distinguish between paid inclusion results and content found by yahoo's
crawler.

crawler.

And...most importantly, real people will shy away as they have in the past
three years because real people don't want to be subjected to advertising.

The reason Google took off so fast is because the average searcher believes
that the results are as pure as you can get on the web....just like
AllTheWeb used to be.

Yahoo needs to learn from its mistakes and revise the plans it has to make
profits in the short term or they will have ended up buying several
commiserates to join them on their way out....a really poor investment.

Did everyone see AskJeeves is now going away from paid inclusion? I have to
give them some credit, looks like they see an opening with Yahoo targeting paid
listings, and they may become a big player here after all. I have a feeling
Microsoft is liking Yahoo's announcements also, leaves them a chance to step in
and get some more market share in search.

Yup,

Everyone except Yahoo sees it. They have to much of a "green" tint to their
glasses to see clearly right now.

But they will get it in the end....:-)

I looks like yahoo is now giving us 2 options--ppc and automated spidering
or non ppc and non automated spidering. If they will spider as frequently
the non ppc sites then life is good . If not, let GOOGLE roar....
