Default Yahoo directory submit a waste of time? - 07-05-2004 , 08:00 AM

Hi

I'm looking for a bit of advice about Yahoo and hope someone here can
help, thanks in advance.
I have a site which I submitted to Yahoo UK through the "free
submit" facility beginning of February which took over 2 months to
appear in the index, ok, I know this varies widely.
There are currently only 4 pages of the site in Yahoo's index but one
of them appears on page 1 for one of my clients serps. I tweaked the
seo on this page a little after the page started to appear and then
waited for the changes to be picked up to see what effect my changes
had. Six weeks later Yahoo is still showing in it's cache the original
page prior to my tweaks and although Yahoo's bot has visited, there
has been no updating at all.
I then decided to submit the site to Yahoo's Directory via the Express
submit as I thought that the site would be visited more regularly by
Yahoo and any updated pages would show in the index quickly.

The site was added to Yahoo's directory 6 weeks ago but still no
update to the cached version of the page in the index.
Currently, 4 pages are in the main index and only 1 page (home page)
in the directory.

My own opinion, I don't think it's worth £200 and certainly appears to
give no benefit in how quickly the site gets updated in the main
index.

Anyone had a similar experience or am I the odd one out.

Thanks for your thoughts

Tin

Right now, the directory and the crawler seem to be completely different.
So, a listing in the directory won't help with your crawled results. On the
other hand a lot of people do still browse the directory, and £200.00 should
not require many sales to recoup.

Eddie
