There's some real good interesting stuff here: http://www.google.co.uk/webmasters/faq.html#cloaking "usually in an attempt to distort search engine rankings. This can mislead users about what they'll find when they click on a search result" Google sucks. they presumes all webbies are malicious. most use these techniques to feed the google spiders relevent data to make their results more relevent..... making everyone happy |

If you are in a tough category like "Sex" or "homeloans" you probably will not get to the first page without cloaking. It C A N happen, but it is doubtful. |

It C A N happen, but it is doubtful. but I bet very few sites get penalised for it. If they have rules, they should enforce them or the honest man loses out. I agree with you and have not used cloaking to date but it is a big issue in the competitive areas. Unfortunately, honesty and business rarely have anything to do with one another. I once took a business ethics course in college and realized sat that point that the problem is out of hand and will always remain so. Those of us who play by the rules suffer a bit but in the long run I sleep better :-) |
