Default Website traffic comparisons - 09-09-2009 , 01:57 PM

Is there anything besides alexa.com that can help me estimate traffic,
pageviews, reach etc for various websites. Thanks

Are these your own sites, or someone else's? If they are your own sites,
you can look at the server logs, and run queries against them to get the
information you want. If you don't have access to server logs, Google
Webmaster has a few tools that might help you.

I am comparing my website (algebra.com) with other people's websites,
I have no access to their logs.

Wow! I just visited your site and bookmarked it. I have a first grader
who is not learning Algebra _yet_, but does have a very good head for
numbers and was disappointed that first grade did not have
multiplication (we started teaching him this summer because he was
interested and grasped the idea).

You are first result for algebra in Google. Does web master tools give
any help for you?

It is helpful, but not that much. Specifically, I am not using
sitemaps.

Algebra.Com is a community site with volunteer tutors, they generate
all kinds of content (solved problems, lessons, solvers) etc, much of
which is good quality stuff.

Sitemaps are a good thing. If you are doing some of this server side,
you can generate your sitemap that way.

Anyways, having a better server is probably one of the best SEO techniques
ever. Makes sense, too: if bots can't get to you quick enough, they won't
come often enough and won't index as much as you want them to. Googlebot
is especially sensitive as far as I can see: a prolonged sluggishness of a
site will lead to fewer visits from GB within a week, then in a month or
so comes the dreaded Google traffic drop.

This is not nearly as bad as it sounds. I use SSDs with "wear
leveling" and even with large amounts of writes, wear leveling will
take care of that.

Same applies to users too, you know.

Hey, Igor, not to beat a dead horse but this is also on the issue of third
party verifications. I don't know if you had a chance to poke around
semrush.com other tools, but there is this one that claims that you made a
really good investment registering algebra.com all those years ago :-)
According to semrush.com you must be a very wealthy man indeed:

http://www.semrush.com/search.php?q=algebra.com&x=0&y=0&db=us

But then, again, so should I (to much lesser extent :-) ):
http://www.semrush.com/search.php?q=1-script.com&x=0&y=0&db=us
Yet I fail to see the prediction materialize.

I wonder if there is anyone here that sees THIS third-party verification
produce an accurate result?
