Using quotes with a single query

Good morning.

An explanation is required.

If I search for Woobey in google I get 928 results

If I search for "Woobey", same single word but wrapped in quotes, I
get 832 results

Why does wrapping the single word in quotes make such a difference.

I also get the same kind of results when using my Fast DataSearch
search engine.

I can understand why this would be the case when searching for multple
words.
