Default user contributed search? - 11-29-2007 , 11:30 PM

Hi gang-

I'm experimenting with a 100% user contributed search engine. It
allows users to type search keywords and what search results they'd
like to see come up. Users can also rank search results, causing more
relevant ones to rise to the top.

Does anyone want to try it out and give me some feedback? Thanks!

The site is at: www.searchr.org.

I personally think it is a bad idea, and you are wasting your time.
WhY ? .... too easy to manipulate the results. And if you only show
the sites that contributed, then there are many more that haven't -
again, not showing true results.

I was thinking about the same thing. This has been tried before and
those darn Viagra salespeople seem to be hell bent at taking over the
Internet marketing world ... if you start something new and it will
get exploited by them, instantly ... must be good money in male
enhancement products ... hmmm

I think I see your problem.

First things first - but not necessarily in that order.

Hi ..thanks for the response. I see your point, but I wonder if the
search results were manipulated (say by Viagra advertisers), I would
think real people would correct them back. Sort of like if a wikipedia
page becomes vandalized, it quickly gets corrected.

You haven't met the SEO India clan yet have you ?
They sit there all day doing adsense clicking, so it won't be long
that they will send a few caste members to start manipulating your
results to benefit theirs.

Honestly, do something else, and something that cannot have cheaters
manipulating things.
