Look at it from my perspective.
There was no post on my server that said "Unlucky! - What to do if
your name is included in a spam dictionary"

The FIRST post that I saw was ...
"RE: Unlucky! - What to do if your name is included in a spam
dictionary"

The important part of that was the "RE"
This emplies that is was a REPLY to a thread. But your writing was all
original. ie, there was no part of that thread that was replying to
anything. To me at least, it looked like an original post masking as a
reply.

Hence me stating "was there a beginning to this ?"

The confusion lies in your header. It stated "A spam dictionary"
The important part is *A* Which emplies singular.
But your posts went on about "contact site owners" which is plural.

After your reply, I went and googled spam dictionary and the best I
could find was this :
http://www.sethf.com/infothought/blo...es/000145.html

I then googled Ben Lagrone and the 1st two SERPS were 404 pages.

I must remind you that your name is not copyrighted. There will be
more than one Ben Lagrone.

If I google my name, I am a film star, but that ain't me.

How do you know that this Ben Lagrone is referring to you ? I am
unclear on this.

Just a friendly little side note. It isn't wise to have your resume
online. Not unless you want identity theft. With that info, and your
address online, it wouldn't take long for someone to become you. It
would be best to remove it, but that's up to you.

Thanks for the helpful reply Paul,
It's actually not my name I'm concerned with, it's someone else's, I
only used Ben Lagrone as an example. And that's not my address either,
but thanks for the concern. I will probably take the resume down,
though, I get a lot of spam emails for hiring.

let me put it this way.

Let's assume for this conversation that your name is "Paul
Shakespeare"
And you do a Google search for your name "paul shakespeare"
And in the results there are about 50 results that all have 100 lines
of text and links saying:

Paula Abdul sex tape - [link to viagra.com]
Paul Shakespeare savings and **** crook [link to loanzforfree.biz]
Gary Coleman is a midget [link to midgetviagraphonesex.com]
XP antivirus symantec scanne [link to virusscanning.com]

That was what I was trying to convey with a 'dictionary', borrowing
the term from a dictionary used in a brute force attack. Which was
probably wrong.

The point being, different people are using posting the exact same
text on neglected message boards across the internet to promote
various garbage.

My apologies if I haven't explained this properly.

I think BB understood it and offered the best advice I'm going to
get.
I'll probably abandon this thread now, as it takes time to read and
reply.

First you need to ask 'who?', and then 'why?' - you could easily get 85%
removed, but he could post 400 more in the time it takes you to stop 3.

If you cannot stop him, then the standard advice is 'get some good mentions
higher in the serps'

But it's best just to ignore them - it's like gossip; if you eavesdrop, you
hear nothing good about yourself, and if you 'vanity search', much the same
applies.

For a couple of months, my name search always brought up 'big girls
blouse' - one of my favoured insults at the time, turned back on me. It
annoyed me so much that I learned to be (a little) less vain. I self-search
much less often, but forum posts fade and die, and who cares what they say
in forums?

After today, the Big Girl's Blouse will probably be back for while ...

Oh good grief Andrew it isn't the people doing it he's worrying about,
it's the damage to his online reputation. This is an industry now,
very big in city circles. I heard about it ages ago which is why I
made the "Defensive SEO" page
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...sive+seo&meta=. These
things matter hugely to some people, this isn't garden fence stuff.
