Default UK Salary for SEO staff. - 04-12-2005 , 11:28 AM

What should an employer be expected to pay a full time web developer
focusing on SEO? 30 hours a week, flexible working locations & days.

I want realistic figures, what people are actually earning, instead of what
people want to earn one day.

Gary.

Upwards of £15 per hour depending on experience? Peanuts and monkeys
potentially spring to mind here!

Web developers don't do SEO. They develop web sites and do programming
and stuff.
Designers do design.
Optimisers do optimisation.
We're all self-employed.

Sarcasm, all those companies have "employees" so the earlier statement "Were
all self employed" is false.

When you talk to them though, a surprising number are fairly new to the
industry, and I have several times been asked leading questions about how
easy it is to set up on your own ;-).

My impression is that people who start out employed in SEO do have a
tendency to go freelance later if they have enough skills and experience to
do so, not necessarily as pure SEO specialists, but designers, developers,
consultants and so on.

I don't have a clue about hourly rates, sorry.

Victoria

I meant all us here. I don't think SEO really lends itself to the
customary workplace heirarchial structure. You can't really seo a site
quicker because some looney is screaming at you. People who want to
see their sites at no. 1 tomorrow or else etc shouldn't be clients in
the first place.
Anyway I'm right up Oysterweb's botty. Hear that knocking, boys?
Hmmmmm?
