Default Two domains pointing to one site? - 11-14-2005 , 11:43 PM

Hi,
I've got two domains pointing to one site, would Google have a problem
with this?

Thanks,
Kristoff Plasun

How do you come to have them both, why are they pointing to the same
site and are they related?

I think Kristoff is talking about a parked domain where you only
service one domain and the other mirrors same files with a different
domain name. Like this you can get your name in different
directories... and no Google does not have a problem with it.

Google should not have a problem with this unless you do something peculiar.
The scenario you describe is a very common one too.

Hope it helps,

Roy

When you say mirror do you mean you can find-

example1.com/file1.html
example2.com/file1.html

Where file1.html are one file on the same server, but when a bot
visits it stays on the site it found?

If so this is mirroring a site and can get one of the sites banned in
most search engines.

What's safe is 301 redirect one of the domains to the other, this way
the bots see just one site and indexes it correctly. By doing this you
don't get the same site listed in directories under two or more domain
names.

If you want to use two domains with no risk create two unique sites
each with it's own hosting.

hmmmmm well, what I have is a parked domain that points to the same IP
as another domain, would that still be a problem?

Thanks,

If the park is a 301 redirect, no. If it's a stealth meta, yes.
302 redirect, maybe.

This page tells you which kind you have:
