Default STOP This could get you banned - 08-10-2004 , 03:44 PM

Google clearly states on their web site that Web Position Gold is a
violation of Google's Terms of Service. Google warns against using
such a product. Before you get your website banned by the search
engines, take the time to read Google's public advice to webmasters,
which is available (obviously) on Google's site. You don't need to
submit your site to anyone, and you certainly don't need to pay money
to anyone for submitting a site.

One quality link from a high Page Rank site will get the search
engines to crawl your site within 72 hours, and you will remain listed
as long as quality sites link to you. If you don't have a friend or
client who will link to you, buy a small text ad on the website of
your local newspaper or TV station. That text ad will be a high
quality link.

While web position gold may be a piece of shit, which it is, it is not
going to get anyone's site banned from google. They say a lot of shit in
their guidelines but don't follow any of it. As for getting a site
indexed in google it takes a lot more than one quality link to do it.
Next time you post to a newsgroup at least know what the hell you're
talking about.

I've had sites spidered by Google by having 1 IBL from a PR5 site in the
past. What exactly do you think it takes to get indexed by Google Sam? What
does it take a lot more of?

Regards

Andrew

And I thought Sam was nice to new people to this NG. jacob (AT) seohouston (DOT) com
has only been posting here since June.

It only takes a link from a quality index site with good PR for a robot to
find you. There are sites out there with just a DMOZ link, that get picked
up with Google............and then they get picked up on the other places
that use the DMOZ directory as their directory.

He also stated that you will stay indexed as long as "quality sites (notice
the plural here) link to you" . Now, I think he was just referring to WPG as
statement to people to help them, as they *do not* need these programs or
anyone to get your site submitted.

He was just stating the Google Guidelines, and then giving the helpful
information to those people who may not know that they do not need to submit
their sites to the SEs.

....Anyway if all you need is a link from a quality site to show up in Google
....what are we all doing here ??
We all know that takes a lot more than that to show up for any relevant
search term -
( Like building an extensive web site on that subject....)

Well, getting indexed is one thing. Having a good ranking position is
another. Being #3000 out of 300,000 results isn't good. What was said was it
takes one site to get *indexed*. So, there are a lot of things that are a
factor for a good position.

True, that is why we are here. :-)

Although I have heard and read Google's terms and conditions, I have yet to
see evidence that Google has actually banned someone for using WPG. We
don't think that hte product has much value in today's SEO world but we have
not seen any evidence of Google actually carrying this threat out.

It is true, one link from a PR 4 site will get you spidered by Google in
around 48 hours, we do it all the time.

The more sites the better...but one will get you spidered very quickly.

Spidered - but not necessarily indexed. http://www.cornwallshooting.com/
has a link from a pr4 dmoz cat with only a few sites listed. It's still
waiting to be added to the Google index.

The damn bot has been in to visit loads of times, but has the data gone
into the index? No!

Bit of a recordbreaker really - a site that got into DMOZ much more easily
than into Google!

Victoria

I believe the past 60 days have been an anomoly at Google though.

Normally, you would be indexed in a efw days.
At least that has been our experience.
