Default Some Googlequestions - 11-01-2003 , 05:02 AM

1) Has anyone ever experienced that Google just did not list a certain
website? (I'm talking about a regular website, without offensive or
pornografic material.)
2) What 's the longest time you had to wait for Google to list a website
after submitting?

Difficult questions to answer...

1) As regards "anyone", the answer's probably 'yes'. As far as I'm
concerned, if we're talking about well formed sites that are linked to other
Googled sites, 'no'. If you mean sites that are all graphic or single paged
or unlinked, the answer is 'yes'.

2) I've never submitted a site to Google, it's not necessary, so I have no
answer.

I can't help feeling that you may have a specific issue that might benefit
from some input from some of the smarter guys around here. Your query looks
like someone who's simply gathering info but I suspect that there's more
than idle curiosity behind your query. Why not ask explicitly about the
issue behind your post? Clever people will be along shortly to give you more
assistance.

I suppose you are right about the fact that there's more to it than just
these two questions.
Of course there's a part of me just wondering out of curiosity what the
answers will be to these questions, on the other hand I'm experiencing a
very long time for getting listed bij Google. And I'm starting to doubt
wether it will be listed at all in the (near) future.

So please, I would like as many people as possible to answer my 2 questions.
I think it's relevant information for not just me.

But the questions, as I had hoped to demonstrate, aren't answerable in any
finite sense - tell us the URL that's not getting listed and someone will
tell you why. Then the other interested parties will benefit from a real
case study rather than abstract speculation.

Yes it happens when you have made a mistake with your code or your
server is configured incorrectly or you haven't done the right things
to get a site found and indexed by Google.

Personally a couple of months, but this was before I understood SEO,
now it's less than a week for anything I want listed. I don't waste my
time submitting pages/sites to Google.

I have some free domains I signed up for before understanding SEO that
have 1 or a very small number of pages with no links to them that have
never been found by Google. These are over a year old and based on
what I haven't done for them I'd not expect Google to find them.

If you want a detailed answer give more details about the problem,
especially the URL of the site.

Anyone betting the site is listed in Google already, but not doing
well for the keywords the person is searching for?

2nd guess would be it's a new site that has no or at least no quality
links to it.

Are there links to your site from any other site already listed in
Google? If not, then you need some.

Yep, this was after testing a website. During that period i did not want any
searchengine te index the site. So I put
<META NAME="robots" CONTENT="none"> in the header.
After testing I forgot to change 'none' into 'all'.
Now I laugh about it, but at the time I got very, very frustrated. :-)

The question are answerable, because I'm asking for every individual answer.
I'm not looking for a guideline, I'm just curious for what others have
experienced.
