Yeehah ... I have been remoted... was totally and utterly off the
scale "for" my favourite two word keyword phrase... and I'm back in on
www2 on page 3 out of 2,540,000 sites. Not page 1 yet but I think
(Pray) that I have uncovered something that will rock you all to the
top just waiting for googles feedback.....

Doing great! My main site is back on page one at number 5 at all
databses and just waiting for google to update my lingerie site and I
should be on page one there too. So where is SEO David hiding?

So what's your theory? Share your thoughts.
SEO optimizations? The title, meta and link structure?

Still doing OK!!

My SERPs are as strong as they have ever been, a change from 10th to
12th for Lingerie is normal considering the recent changes (last 6
months it's moved between 6th and 17th). Yesterday I received 6400
unique visitors (over 600,000 hits), I don't really consider that
anything to worry about considering 4 weeks ago my average was 5500
uniques.

When comparing Sam's one SERP (he only goes after one phrase!!) to the
Lingerie SERP (one of many hundreds I go after) take this into
account.

From Wordtracker-

Lingerie - predicted searches a day from all sources 38,561
Sam's Two Word Phrase - predicted searches a day from all sources
3,827

Basically the Lingerie SERP produces 10x the traffic as Sam's SERP and
because of this has 100x the competition. This is also why his SERP is
filled with info sites, there's hardly any real competition.

I have a lot of top 3 results for similar traffic SERPs as Sam's
including many for the mini site in the sig related to SEO (which by
it's nature is highly competitive).

I agreed not to post Sam's SERP when he told it me and I don't go back
on my word, so will never post it (or his sites). All I can say is he
won't post his phrase because he knows it will reveal how easy a SERP
it is.

I get over 1000 visitors a day from the Lingerie SERP, even at 12th
and so I'm not concerned. The SERP has dropped because I have lost
some very important backlinks as shown by the allinanchor search for
Lingerie which puts me around 27th (last month 12-15).

If it wasn't for the recent algo change I'd probably be around 25th
for Lingerie. So I'm quite happy with 12th for now especially as it's
not really going to result in big sales, most of the searches won't be
looking to buy.

What is a concern is a complete lack of backlinks for my site, but
with PR still showing and the SERPs not dropping right now it looks to
me like a Google anomaly. Worst case scenario is it's a ban, but you
tend to notice a ban first when you stop getting traffic, not lack of
backlinks. Time will tell.

I haven't had time to look yet, but I'd say Google has done a partial
back track from last months changes (pandering to web site owners
probably!).

Makes no difference to me, business as usual.

One of my sites went from 14 > 9 > #2 during the past week for a mildly
competitive term.

I have made no changes to the site in over a week. About 100 pages of
content, all very relevant.

all sites except one have gone up but this one has moved the most. I am not
sure Google is done yet though.

Sure seems like a filter got turned off.

Not sure if it matters now anyway is it me or are the results going
back to the way they all were before the latest fiasco?

In the meantime have a read of this old doc...

http://www.netmechanic.com/news/vol4/promo_no21.htm

I asearched cars for sale
looked at googles cache of autotrader and what do you see?

"These search terms have been highlighted: cars
These terms only appear in links pointing to this page: sale"

This site I think does very well because it does not have the trip
filter keywords on the page, but how many inbound links with the
keyword sale does it have???

I have analised a few more sites and the maximum you can get away with
before tripping the filter keywords seems to be 5

The majority of number 1 sites don't have "filtered keywords" on the
page itself... but that all seems to be changing now anyway... havent
had time to investigate the new results at all today.
