NO. On page content definitely counts.

I tend to disagree. I have sites in the top 5 on google for terms an
I have yet to develop the inbound links for my clients. Definatel
inbound links matter, but it is not the be all end all, its just on
piece of the pie :

Yes, inbound links *and* content counts. My guess is that content counts
more than ever. Because Google did buy the companyed Applied Semantics.
And if they had no plans to put more weight on "good" content, then they
wouldn't have bought that company.

How they're going to analyze what's good content and what's not is their
headache. Yes, headache that's what we can see nowadays.

Indeed mike. It is not one factor that is going to weigh your site
rankings. I can see that the new applied semantics system is
definately not working 100% but I am sure the googlies will get it all
sorted out.

links are what matter most
but on page content still matters a bunch
especially on those phrases where the new filter or more advanced
algorithm is not used

Curious... Do these postings with the URL tacked
at the bottom count towards relevant incoming links ?

Aaron I tend to differ with you on this one, but I am sure you dont
mind if we agree to disagree My sites with no backlinks are holding
down #1 spots on some nice keywords without difficulty. So although
links are good, I do not put them above content, but i think it
depends on your strategy.

its just that looking at some of my sites that have dropped from FLORIDA,
the sites that replace them are:

non - commercial
have only a few keyphrases in them
the links to the pages that are displayed are accessed by the same keyphrase
throughout the site
